Dr. Orloff G. Miller
Sunday, October 24, 2010
At the Museum, 119 East Water St. Flemingsburg
Dr. Miller will lecture on research techniques for deeds, warrants, and war veteran awards of land with emphasis on those typically found in Mason and Fleming County records. He will also discuss the historical surveying methods employed to establish the boundaries of the tracts.
Orloff G. Miller received his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. He cross trained in archeology, American history and “vernacular” architecture.
Since moving to the Ohio River valley in 1991, Orloff has documented literally hundreds of archeology sites, architectural resources, battlefield landscapes and community memories throughout the region.
He has recently done explorations of grist mill sites in Mason County, and has expressed an interest in the several mill place-names in Fleming County.
Dr. Miller is the Principal of Orloff G. Miller Consulting, a firm working primarily in cultural resource management.
